MY BEAUTIFUL DARJEELING

I have visited many hill stations like Palampur, Dalhousie, Kullu, Manali, Switzerland, Ooty and Darjeeling. As rightly said, Darjeeling is the Queen of the Hills. The beauty of Darjeeling is in its greenery and fresh atmosphere. The history behind the name Darjeeling is somewhat like this? While Lord Indra was flying with his celestial weapon "Vajrayudh" over these hills a part of it called the "Dorjee" fell from his hand. This lead to a calamity almost threatening to destroy the whole world. Then the saviour of the world Lord Shiva used his might to save the place thus the name Darjeeling (Dorjee + Ling)

I am sure everybody knows that Kanchenjunga is the second highest mountain peak in the world. Though it is situated in Nepal but is clearly visible from Darjeeling, and I was lucky to see its snow clad peaks on all clear days from my window. The changing colours of the peak with the rising sun are a treat to the eyes. Darjeeling has the highest pony racing ground in the world at Lebong which is now managed by the Indian army. Darjeeling has one of the world's premier mountaineering institutes called the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute which has many famous mountaineers as its alumni. The museum at HMI has the equipment used by Tenzing Norgay to conquer the Mount Everest. It also houses a zoo for the endangered species like the panda and snow leopard.

There are many tea gardens in and around Darjeeling and it is very beautiful to see the tea bushes. Darjeeling tea is world famous and the cost goes up to Rs. 12, 000/- per Kg. The processing of tea is a very tender procedure and I was lucky to experience it in a factory. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railways have been declared as 'World Heritage'. The journey from Siliguri to Darjeeling is really breath taking as the small trains move at a very slow speed through the jungles and climbing the hills like a serpent. There are many famous and good schools in Darjeeling. The culture is a mix of Nepali and Bengali with Buddhism being the main religion. The people are very friendly and enjoy their life, they converse in Gorkhali and Bengali. Darjeeling is crowded with tourist during the winters, to experience the snow and during summers as an escape from the scorching heat of the plains. The famous 3T's of Darjeeling are Tea, Timber and Tourism, on which the whole economy is based.

 मैंने पालमपुर, डलहौजी, कुल्लू, मनाली, स्विट्जरलैंड, ऊटी और दार्जिलिंग जैसे कई हिल स्टेशनों का दौरा किया है।  जैसा कि ठीक कहा गया है, दार्जिलिंग क्वीन ऑफ द हिल्स है।  दार्जिलिंग की सुंदरता उसके हरियाली और ताजे वातावरण में है।  दार्जिलिंग नाम के पीछे का इतिहास कुछ इस तरह है?  जब भगवान इंद्र अपने आकाशीय हथियार "वज्रायुध" के साथ इन पहाड़ियों पर उड़ रहे थे, तो उनके हाथ से "दोरजी" नामक एक हिस्सा गिर गया।  इसने पूरी दुनिया को तबाह करने की धमकी दी है।  तब दुनिया के उद्धारकर्ता भगवान शिव ने दार्जिलिंग (दोरजी + लिंग) नामक स्थान को बचाने के लिए अपनी ताकत का इस्तेमाल किया।

दार्जिलिंग में और उसके आसपास कई चाय के बागान हैं और यह चाय की झाड़ियों को देखने के लिए बहुत सुंदर है।  दार्जिलिंग की चाय विश्व प्रसिद्ध है और इसकी कीमत रु।  12, 000 / - प्रति किलोग्राम।  चाय का प्रसंस्करण एक बहुत ही निविदा प्रक्रिया है और मैं इसे एक कारखाने में अनुभव करने के लिए भाग्यशाली था।  दार्जिलिंग हिमालयन रेलवे को 'विश्व धरोहर' घोषित किया गया है।  सिलीगुड़ी से दार्जिलिंग की यात्रा वास्तव में सांस ले रही है क्योंकि छोटी ट्रेनें जंगलों के माध्यम से बहुत धीमी गति से चलती हैं और पहाड़ियों पर सर्प की तरह चढ़ती हैं।  दार्जिलिंग में कई प्रसिद्ध और अच्छे स्कूल हैं।  संस्कृति नेपाली और बंगाली का मिश्रण है जिसमें बौद्ध धर्म मुख्य है।  लोग बहुत मिलनसार हैं और अपने जीवन का आनंद लेते हैं, वे गोरखाली और बंगाली में मनाते हैं।  दार्जिलिंग में सर्दियों के दौरान, बर्फबारी का अनुभव करने और मैदानों की चिलचिलाती गर्मी से बचने के लिए गर्मियों के दौरान पर्यटकों के साथ भीड़ होती है।  दार्जिलिंग के प्रसिद्ध 3T चाय, इमारती लकड़ी और पर्यटन हैं, जिस पर पूरी अर्थव्यवस्था आधारित है।
