The Farewell Dinner for the students of classes X and XII was held in the school on the 13 th of February 2012 at 7 pm. The Quadrangle was beautifully decorated. There was ample seating for everyone and twinkling multicoloured lights shone everywhere you turned. The "picce de resistance" was the stage - a dream in shades of blue white and silver arranged in an arch over the backdrop. The Principal opened the procuedings with a short prayer for the success of our boys and girls appearing for the Board Exams That was followed by an interesting speech in Hindi by The Chief Guest-The Mayor of Pune, Mrs. Rajlakshmi Bhosale. She recalled the sacrifices made by educators like Jyotiba Phule in the era prior to independence for the cause of womens educ was met with a rousing applause. The Head Girl, Manica Banerjoe gave a short speech on behalf of the students, thanking the school, the staff and the Principal for all their help and guidance. This was followed by the two speeches made by Mr. Batra and Mrs Nicholson, parents of students of Class XII and X respectively, again thanking the boys and their Alma Mater and encouraging the students to aim high and do well in the exams and in the biggest exam of all-Life. The Staff Choir performed heartfelt and melodious songs to enthuse and inspire the students. After this the boys of Class X and the students of Junior College were called onto the stage and given their mementos by the Principal. The dashing boys in their suits and lovely girls in their saris looked bewitching and very unlike their usual selves. Dinner was sumptuous and plentiful and of course there were endless photographs taken. The evening was a bittersweet experience as the students were saddened by the end of their schooldays and parting from known and well loved friends and surroundings. Yet there was joy and excitement of a new world looming up in the future. The teachers fondly bid their students farewell and wished them the very best in life and the students responded with choked voices and gratitude. ion.
